I have learned what a synchronous and asynchronous discussions are and the pros and cons these styles.  When I was reading about the three categories of learning, I wondered which category fit me the best.  I did have a laugh when I read the word “netiquette” as I never saw the term used before.

All of the topics have bearing and if I am going to be effective as a teacher I will need to review the class topics prior to the start of my class and even during.  I may even make a checklist that I can reference to.

I learned and I like the idea of getting to know the student and letting the student know who I am and some of my interests.  I do this with my regular classes but I didn't really think it would be important online but I was wrong.

I have learned that the quality of the media and the quality (and quantity) of my interactions with the students will improve the student’s ability to learn and grab the content.

I have also learned students also should be able to do a number of things through the CMS and there are a number of items the teacher needs to do to manage the course. There are many important items but I see the two most important are being involved with communication and monitoring the whole class.
