I learned that procrastination is often seen with online courses. It is important for instructors to engage as much as possible with students to help keep them on track by setting deadlines and expectations. 

The use of asynchronous discussion boards reaches learners of all different types- specifically the avoidant population. I plan to use asynchronous discussions, over synchronous. I also will provide feedback to each student (privately) regarding their post. Although this module suggests communicating in an informal format, I prefer to discuss formally with students to promote a certain level of professionalism that I expect in class. 

As a new instructor, I didn't realize the implications a biography can have when establishing a student-teacher relationship. Sharing my successes and credentials with students will foster a better professional relationship. I plan on updating my bio in Canvas. 

I found it helpful to know that students gain a better sense of learning depending on the level of engagement and the overall quality of the media presented to them. As an instructor, I try to apply learned biology topics we are covering to nursing concepts to connect the content we are covering. More specifically,  I create discussion topics that are relevant to the topic we are covering by relating it to nursing.
