About me

I have been teaching at IADT San Antonio since 10/2010. I teach a variety of graphic design and internet marketing classes and now Web Design Fundamentals. I really enjoy the variety and it keeps my mind fresh, active and invigorates my passion for different areas of design. I have a masters degree in publication design from University of Baltimore. I'm really happy to be with IADT and in the teaching field because its fun to see the "lightbulbs" go off in the minds of college students.

Besides teaching graphic design classes, I have been dancing, performing and teaching dance for many years. The similarities are amazing.

Interests

graphic design, web design, making beaded jewelry, gardening, ballroom dancing.

Skills

adobe creative suite, web design analysis, marketing, public speaking

Activity

@bettylong : Well that sounds fun. Good dea

What I learned in this couse has given me lots of ideas about games and use of mnemonics to apply to different courses. I will use the seating arrangement around a table and try debriefing after group collaboration.

Thanks

@chrisrobida : This course was great and I will use the techniques

This module was very helpful. Now I will give my students the choice to pick projects.

This was very helpful. Most relevant to the school where I work and the typical student body. Good idea about putting test info in boxes for students with reading difficulties.

My focus is on project work, not tests, and the percentage for tests is far less than projects. For most students, this helps, but some have problems reading and still do poorly. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My design school has 5 hour class times. I use the first 30 minutes to introduce a subject and have discussion about it. Then the rest of class time is for students to work on projects. I find it works best so students can get projects done during class time.
Its great to share my experiences with students to help give them ideas about the specific things they will encounter in their desired career choice.
The different colors of paper can really add to the student experience. It is a change of pace and emphasizes the material
