Having a variety of educational methods will help students that learn differently. Break up topics with a lot of information, we can only retain so much and our attention spans begin to falter.

Tell the students a little about yourself, and offer the same to them to help to ease nervousness on the first day. Learning names can be tricky, so a seating chart can be helpful- also, using the students name and pronouncing it correctly will help build trust and a better relationship between you and the student.

Including all course details, expectations and your information are vital for student success.  The syllabus acts as a road map for the students during the term. In addition, being prepared for class will ease nervousness for yourself, and will demonstrate professionalism and credibility.

A prepared instructor, who is punctual and professional is key in being an effective instructor.
