The Dynamics of Intervention module taught me that timely and effective intervention can significantly impact a student’s success and overall experience. I learned that intervention is not about punishment or criticism, but about recognizing when a student may be struggling and stepping in with support, guidance, and resources before the situation worsens. Early communication, active listening, empathy, and consistency all play a major role in helping students stay engaged and motivated.

Understanding attrition helped me realize that students often leave programs for reasons beyond academics alone. Personal challenges, financial stress, lack of confidence, poor time management, and feeling disconnected can all contribute to a student withdrawing from school. This module showed me how important it is to recognize early warning signs such as poor attendance, missing assignments, low participation, or sudden changes in behavior before the situation becomes irreversible.

I also learned that attrition is not just a student issue — it reflects how well institutions and educators support student success. Strong communication, mentorship, encouragement, and creating a welcoming learning environment… >>>

This module taught me that retention is more than just keeping students enrolled — it’s about helping them feel supported, motivated, and connected throughout their educational journey. I learned that communication, encouragement, and early intervention can make a huge difference in whether a student succeeds or gives up. Sometimes students are carrying silent battles outside the classroom, and one caring conversation can completely shift their mindset. That part hit hard because education is never just about grades; it’s about people.

I also learned the importance of building trust and creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions… >>>

Was the rubric use for formative, summative, self- or peer assessment?

After learning more about the purposes and roles of rubrics, I’ve realized they work best when they are treated as part of the learning process, not just the grading process.  Best practices: I plan to write the rubric at the same time I design the assignment so the criteria directly match the learning objectives. I will also give students the rubric before they begin their work and review it with them so expectations are clear. Using simple, student-friendly language instead of technical wording helps students actually use the rubric instead of ignoring it.  Action plans: I want students to use… >>>

Rubrics help replace the informal clarification students might normally receive in face-to-face classes, so they reduce confusion and improve confidence.  Yes Or No

I found it very informative. It's great to know that FERPA protects the rights of students while they attend school. It is important for us to keep this updated .

How to empathize with my students even more .
