It is important to lay out directions online very clearly and easily to understand due to many different types of learners, we want to keep students engaged. Also we have to be aware that as an instructor we may get a lot of emails from students asking questions, so we will have to know how to maintain that and answer them. 

It is important when to use synchronous discussions and nonsynchronous discussions with the students during online classes. It is also important to give feedbacks to students so they know how they are doing. 

It is important for an instructor to make students feel comfortable during online format. Instructors can tell a little about themselves but also ask each student to tell a little bit of themselves, engage in all students to build that rapport. 

Some people are not computer savvy, so it is important to make sure online content is displayed in a way that is easy to understand and navigate for those who may struggle. There may be questions so it is important to know the answers when students ask. 

It is a good idea to practice your lectures before class starts, like knowing what you are going to say and how you are going to present it. It is also a good idea to record your lectures time to time with your class and re play it after, this shows the instructor ways they may need to improve on. 

I learned that it is okay to tell a little about yourself, meaning the instructor. It gives students a bit of comfort knowing their instructor has experience in what the students will be learning and doing. Also it is important for the students to first interact with each other especially on the first day of class and to also try to learn their names and have them tell a little about themselves, it brings some comfort in doing this. You want students to know they have a set plan of the class when leaving on the first day of class. 

It is so important to have everything prepared before class. Arrive early to set up early. If there is topics you want to discuss, have it written down prior so you don't forget to teach that topic or mention something. Be there for students before and after class if any questions needs to be asked. 

I learned that I need to find my own teaching style and to look back at my old instructors on what I liked and did not like. It's important to show your students a way of teaching that is easy for the teacher to understand and a way that will be easy and also fun in a way for the students to understand.
