The types of learners and how to approach each type of learner. How to hold discussions synchornous vs. asynchornous. Engaging with a student and providing encouragement and confidence and motivation to enhance their learning experience. 

It's our duty to get to know our students and for them to know us on a personal and professional level to create that feeling of security and comfort. It will make learning and teaching more effective. 

I learned that to be a successful online instructor I need to be familiar with the program and software I am using and be prepared for the questions that may be asked.
