There are positive and negatives to teaching synchronus and asynchronus styles. The best form of delivery needs to be decided upon before the course content is developed. I wonder if the best courses could implement both to a degree. If they are set up as ascynhronus, but then provide a few different times a week for synchronus  video chats, you could get the benefits of becoming acquainted and having a few face-to-face interactions. 

This module reviewed different teaching tools and how they can be used multiple ways. The most interesting piece was learning about the teaching styles, and how to effectively adapt to online in all types of teaching styles. 

Being aware of dynamics that students face, and types of personalities, will help instructors identify areas of concern early enough to address it. Expect conflict to occur, and plan to act quickly when you think conflict exists. 

It was interesting to learn the pros and cons for synchronus and asynchronus activities. I think both should play a role in online learning. 

Just like it is important to establish your authority and build relationships with face-to-face classes, it is just as important with online classes. Students will feel more comfortable about their learning experience if they know you are present and available for support.

The biggest takeaway so far is that organization of the online course is key to the success of students. A course design needs to include active learning strategies, and everything from initial content delivery through assessment needs to be created in a manner that is accessbile to students.
