Considering that email is a very popular form of communication between instructors and teachers, it's important to not place yourself under unrealistic deadlines for responding to emails but at minimum response time should be 24 hrs. Instructors can chat with students but determine if the situation is something that can be dealt with in a private. Attrition management can be handled in different ways that is dependent upon why the attrition is occuring. 

 

Students will exhibit different degrees of different learning styles in e-learning. Try to identify students that are not active and reach out to them. I plan to provide feedback in a timely manner and choose the correct tone and mood when providing constructive criticism. It is also important to not let some students dominate the conversation which could make quiet students shy away from participating.

 

It's important to establish a relationship and rapport with students through sharing a biography. The biography should include educational background, credentials, and some personal information. It is also important to get to know students. 

 

Planning and being familiar with the CMS is pertinent prior to engaging students. There are many issues that can arise with e-learning and it's important for instructors to have some basic technical knowledge. I plan to create a structured outline of what I want my class to look like from an instructor and student perspective.
