It is interesting all the federal regulations that trump FERPA when it comes to disclosing information about students.

I honestly did not know that once a student graduates that FERPA does not apply anymore to their academic records.

There are so many different components to FERPA that it makes it seem complicated, but in reality it is mostly common sense.  If you just apply the same methodology that you do with your own personal information.

The best thing you can do is to just treat every piece of information about a student as confidential and thus controlled by FERPA -- it is better to be safe than sorry.
