Activity

In this module, we reviewed the importance of staying up to date and familiar with the policies within your institution and any accrediting bodies with which your institution is aligned. Regular training supports you in your role and keeps you knowledgeable as you continue to work with students. The cadence of training may be outlined by your department or regulated by an accrediting body.

In this module, I learned the importance of networking within your institution. Departments such as Career Services, Student Services, and Marketing play a vital role in the students’ journey. Being familiar with others within your institution can create channels of knowledge to support your role in admissions.

In this module, I learned that effective transparency aligns with compliance. It is essential to maintain accurate documentation on new students and provide them with all necessary information to enable them to begin their program. Key information, such as program cost, duration, and expectations, should be shared with students prior to enrollment and the start of classes.

In this module, I learned that additional training may be needed beyond your school’s new hire training to become an enrollment counselor. These trainings may include compliance training for specific states, such as Florida. It is important that an enrollment counselor successfully complete all required training and remain current on any updates that impact their service, knowledge, and compliance while working with students.
