Common sense and soft skills are important in the classroom to develop correct plans and actions in the classroom and developing rapport for the student and instructor. 

Having the ability to perform assessments is appropriate to determine one's learning ability and what they have learned so far. Because of this, several assessments are required like performance or knowledge based assessments to determine each students knowledge retention. 

Having the openness to answer questions of the students, while respectfully paying full attention to them, not dismissing their question and providing the resources if the question is too broad is a sure fire way to keep the class interested and engaged and willing to learn

By taking into consideration various learning styles, implementing each one in some way is successful in students learning. Providing a survey on the first day can measure and provide insight on the learning styles of the classroom.

Helping every student by accommodating most of the lecture to each learning style

Introducing yourself, humanizing yourself and your studen, taking the time to develop a plan and implement that plan into action is important in any classroom and the classroom you plan to teach. 

The point of instruction is to be a model, manager and motivator. You need to know the content but you will never truly know it all. You act in humility, work with your students, create that rapport to be able to have that active learning in class, and develop a teaching style that works for both you and your students. Professionalism is everything in teaching and instruction, you are a role model to the class, so acting accordingly is necessary.
