Kim, I want to know who started the rumor that online learning was easy! :) I have started creating students an Outlook calendar that helps them map out their learning in the course. They hopefully will build their activities around the learning. The Outlook Calendar then can go in their phones as that is what they are connected to. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Cynthia, I was just reading a report about the future of post education learners. It stated students must take responsibility of their own learning and be proactive. I don't think many of my students coming from high school are ready for that. I do think nontraditional students try to be let obstacles get in the way. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Cynthia, Great list. Do you have tutorials that explain each of these tasks to help remediate? I have tried to create them or encourage the university to do so, particularly when it is about the LMS. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Kim, Digital literacy is becoming more important in every aspect of education, not just online. Students must have a basic knowledge of the computer including the two items you mentioned. You don't want the technology to be the barrier. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Cynthia, Thanks for sharing. I am going to look at this. It is so important for online educators to share their techniques and tips. It makes us all better! Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Cynthia, I do to and it is almost like a guest speaker. I have used Grammar girl podcasts as a great way to do some quick remediating. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Cynthia, I think that is a great idea. How do you give your students feedback? Have you tried recording your grading and feedback? is is a great way to connect to students and research shows the students feel the feedback is richer as you give the waht and how about the problem. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Kim, I like that idea. With the announcements add content. I am going to use that. Thanks for sharing. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Cynthia, It will change your life! :) Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Cynthia, That is a great idea. You might ask your students to post their perceived strengths and weaknesses as part of their introduction. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
