You have brought up an interesting point, and that is forcing students to use the help desk or support rather than contact you. I think it is similar to the issues in a f2f course when students just ask and don't investigate an answer.
yes, but is that an efficient use of YOUR time?
Which one will be the challenge for you?
I really like how you articulated "clear parameters" I think your one and two go hand in hand.
Love the quote "the medium is not the message" You are correct sir! Technology should not intrude or be a reason it just is just like a chalkboard or textbook. Great points, enjoyed your insight.
You make great points. One, that we have to remember is that we start with the student not with the technology which is the focus of Gagn, Briggs & Wager, 1992 (Palloff and Pratt) and most certainly Knowles. Second, we have to begin teaching are students to read, accept, and use feedback. A grade and feedback are not the same! FYI, I love the detail in which you post. This is a great example of a well articulated, discussion posting. Nice job!
what are the four different roles?
Good points. Just make sure that you are not online all the time. :)
That is true, student interaction is the key
You are "spot" on. Great answer
