Steve, What a great assessment. How do they assess it? I see they hold the student to industry standard, do they use a rubric? Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Steve, I think that is a great evaluation strategy. You give your students a variety of ways to show their learning. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Steve, I agree with you, and you make a great point. The student and the instructor should be "on the same page" regarding assessment. We don't always think about that. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Gary, I agree with you! If a student asks why, the dialog is opened and the opportunity to engage with the student is there. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Steve, Great points! It does concern me that students think they can take an online course with out appropriate devices. You want students to be familiar with the technology as you want the assessment to assess their learning not how well they use the technology. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Jean, Great strategies. It also allows students to recognize the power of social networking. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Discussion Comment
Aldgenette, How do you use the taxonomy to measure knowledge gained? They are only verbs for outcomes. What ways would you use it? Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Pennie, Great strategies. Do you reinforce that information in your course? Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Twyla , That may be the way the program is designed and that is fine. Not every course lends itself to authentic assessment; but you hope they can take that information and build on it from other courses. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Robert, Great point! It is so true that formative assessments can take the burden from the summative assessment. We really don't think about that. You make another great point, time spent on material translates to students what is important. Assessment should reflect that. Great post with important considerations. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
