Chezree, Great strategies. I again am trying to use more calendaring to push to their technology. I can actually get that to their phones. This is such a challenge. Students need to see us as a resources not as an "enemy" to their success. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Miriam, You are right. If you want students to improve, you have to provide timely feedback. They should not have to guess where they stand in their learning. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Jacinda, You make a great point. So many times in online learning, the students only know to contact the instructor. It is important for students to know the resources they have to access. Also, students, particularly Millennials tend to ask questions before looking for answers. We have to wean them from that. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Kimberly, I agree with you. It is interesting to hear when institutions allow students to take an online course when the student does NOT have access to a computer. We cannot set students up for failure. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Chezree, Wow, I LOVE your strategies. I also commend you on using the term "guide". You are really using different resources to help students become not just successful online learners but just effective learners. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Victoria, Your institution has an interesting way to introduce students to education. I think we have to be very careful with the idea that anything that does not have synchronous interaction does not have value and will "hurt" students ability to learn. Using good communication strategies can go a long way in providing the interaction students must have to learn. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Jacinda, Great strategies! It is important to provide that help. You may want to pair students together in writing teams for them to who share their writing and critique each other using wikis. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Kimberly, I agree and hold them accountable to good writing skills. You may want to provide them with "good" examples and "bad" examples of writing. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Jacinda, Great post. I find that students may know the consequences of plagiarism but don't think it applies to them. This needs to be communicated regularly. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Jacinda, You are right, it is a great way to identify students' weaknesses and provide them with individualized learning plan with resources provided. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
