What group activities work in your online class?

Students should come to class with questions that need to be answered, students can teach instructors- 

Critical thinking means accepting knowledge from various sources including ones peers. Discussion Posts, blogs, and peer review are all important for online learning. Students become problem solvers and are able to evaluate information and study complex situations.

It is important to use different modalities to reach every student such as video feedback, audio feedback and written feedback. Be encouraging as an instructor and comment on their work regularly, students need to see examples so they know what the instructor is looking for.

What can instructors so to help students understand the time commitment of an online class?

Students need to self reflect and it is important for instructors to encourage students to engage in course content. 

Instructor should also make a video at the start of course letting students know and understanding the expectations. Some students believe online is an easier alternative to face to face.

What should an instructor do if students are struggling to take responsibility for their learning and prefer the instructor lecture method where they are taught what to think?

Students should take responsibility for their learning, instructors should not be lecturing and giving answers the students. I am going to make sure I am a facilitator and use different methods of modalities, such as videos, audio and peer review.

Active learning teaches students, to think critically and strengthen their writing skills.
