I have been an instructor for 3 years, beginning my time just as covid hit.  I can see how this topic is so relevant, even from the beginning.  I had to navigate learning to teach in an on-line environment, providing good content, implementing teaching strategies, and learning the types of students I was teaching.  I have found, it is both newly graduated high school and the majority, nontraditional or adult learners.  I found I had challenges with wanting to pull the "Mom card" as there were students that wanted to blame their challenges on the course or instructor.

I was unaware of how far FERPA needed to be upheld, when thinking of third-party venors.

I feel familiar with what I as an employee can view or not in student records as well as if I was a student.   This section was a nice refresher.

I learned that as an instructor, I should only be accessing student information as it applies to my teaching or course.  I also learned if we have an audit or accreditation, like we are now, that ECPI is required to put a notification in each student file stating information was shared, with who, why, how, when and for what purpose.

I have learned what are and aren't part of a student record.  I also learned that a student has the right to access their records within 45 days of request and if filing a complaint, it need to be within 180 days of events.
