I love the saying if you fail to plan you plan to fail. SMART goals help us set goals which allow us to make a complete plan for a lesson, week, or even a full semester.

It is important to understand and utilize the different ways of engaging students. Summative and formative assessments will play a major role in assessing students. I could do better at understanding them.

Students learn at different levels, ensuring that the curriculum aligns well with the community standards is the goal. Having students reflect on what they have learned will help to instill the knowledge they have accumulated.

The first day is so important for impressing how the year is going to go, I also love the safety tips on how not to get involved with lawsuits.

Students come from different backgrounds. Understanding that different generations were raised differently helps me as an instructor to relate to them and build professional relationships. Maslow's Hierarchy has always made so much sense, as how do you build trusting relationships with people when you do not feel safe or have the basic needs.

I would not have survived either in this field without my mentor. Having a professional community to bounce ideas off of is critical and TAC's really do provide the industry standard at which we teach.

There are 5 pages of acronyms in teaching, much like nursing, there is a lot to learn. Teachers are role models in the community and we have to live the way we want our students to know us. Private is not so private with the impact of social media.

I learned about the different clusters and pathways available in CTE and how to implement a Program of Study. This course really helped me understand where CTE gets its funding, and how important High quality CTE is.
