Overall a career coach must build genuine relationships and have an understanding of their students needs, interests, values and assets in order to best assist when it comes to their students career- decision making 

I learned the importance of knowing the full background of your institution as well as the industry, to be able to build strong relationships and finding quality matches of our students/graduates skill sets to industry-standard requirements. I also found the 5 stages of employer engagement framework to be helpful to help decipher the types of relationships built with employers, as well as more effective strategies to build and maintain employer relationships. 

The biggest takeaways for me here were getting a better understanding of the industry, learning more about advancements/technologies, and overall a better understanding of Medical terminology/ the healthcare field. It is not just about finding positions and opening job orders, but about becoming as knowledgeable in the field as I can. The section on services that can be offered to employers also inspired me to think of new ways to strengthen already existing connections as well as open new contacts with employers.
