It is critical to make the change from F2F teaching to online very smooth and to make it as close to your own teaching methods as possible. You know your own students and how they learn and they also learn from you, so changing your teaching to being very robotic or even using powerpoints will not help especially if you are not that kind of teacher. I know I am a very hands on learner as well as a very hands on instructor, I know most of my students are the same, so if all of the material switches to… >>>

As an online instructor is important to carefully read all of the students key responses and feedback, it is important to assess student evaluations to make sure that they are learning and understanding the information being presented to them. It is also important to make sure that when responding to any student that each message is clear and concise since they can not see or hear what you are expressing out loud.

The main lesson here was the difference between synchronous and asynchronous teaching through an online platform. There are many benefits to both styles but it is important to utilize, understand and know the difference between the two, this will help with your own method of teaching as well. Everyone just wants to be treated with the same respect and gain the same education as everyone around them, it is our responsibility as educators to make sure that even those with disabilities are getting everything equally. Sometimes it may take us providing extra necessities for those with disabilities to be able to succeed more but it is also important that we do not give them more than our other students when it comes to assignments or tests. We also do not need to talk in any different manner only because they have a dissability.

This section definitely made learning disabilities more understanding specifically for those who did not understand it much before. Anxieties and other disorders used to be looked upon differently, failing a test due to anxiety never was treated respectfully before. It makes me happy knowing it is acknowledged now.

I have learned how different students have disabilities that may have not been thought of to me previously as a disability which may have made someone feel excluded previously. I learned how to be inclusive and supportive of those needs as well.

Being new to the teaching industry this course definitely helped me in seeing new ways to approach a new class. It also helped me to see different ways that I can start a class and different teaching methods that I can use when entering the room. I enjoyed learning this course! It helped me get another insight in how everyone learns in different ways. The Harvard learning videos were very helpful!
