While I am not a fan of essay or short answer test as there tends to be a subjective component to grading, I do see their value in evaluating knowledge base and writing ability.

I have found that in this environment student responses are not always rooted in ethics. Value is placed on a need for success sometimes rather than right or wrong. Not sure how to navigate this tight rope as the outcome is not always going to be success as deemed/needed.

I do agree questioning evaluates understanding but it also facilitates understanding through the development of further questions.

The module allowes me to see how I have incorporated multiple learning styles for my own benefit while understanding how I best learn. I will continue to utilize multiple modalities as it is important to be skilled in more than one way of learnI gotta.

Utilizing multiple teaching methods and breaking up monotoy supports learning.

The first meeting does not have to be as intense as it feels that it will be.

I learned that the required prep time is not just for new instructors but will be a part of the process of a successful instructor.

I learned that being a strong educator is by choice not simply by design.

I learned that it is not enough to just present a topic but important to prep for the class using the same tools the students are to use. The difference between the two is as the instructure I am using the tools as a refresher to enhance my knowledge base and information recall. I have found that I am more motivated in teaching when I am confident and my level of enthusiasm is greater. I believe some of that enthusiasm is transferred to the students.

The uncertainty that comes with being a new instructor and mid-course grades can be overwhelming. I will utilize some of the strategies to support the students at an earlier point in the course.
