I think I will be partially able to flipp the classroom. Unfortunately, I do not see the ability to completely flip my classes, since they are overloaded with material needed to be taught. I will definitely try to implement some of the strategies I learned.

When working in small groups, I have experienced that it is best for me as an instructor to select the groups my ELL students are being put in. This definitely made the ELL students more comfortable to open up, talk and share their experiences/ideas. I can choose the peers which actually allow my ELL students to open up versus when I let them choose, often they either pair up with other ELL students (which is not necessarily bad, but they profit more from being teamed up with english-profecient students because they are challenged more) or students that would not integrate them… >>>

I will certainly try to implement some of the ideas. I especially liked the section on peripheral learning, which I will use. I also liked the ideas of incorporating music, which will be a bit trickier to do in our class environment though. Overall the class gave me some good ideas.

Including case studies or adding real-life-scenarios really keep the students engaged and show them why it is important to have all the "background" information.

A few things I liked about this course was the tips to make grading of Assignments, Exams and Quizzes easier. Having the students underlining the most important part of their answers will not only make it easier for the instructor to grade but also increase the chance for the student to answer the question. Additionally the advice to create a box for the short answers questions where the students put their answer in should make it easier to correct the exams.

I have learned quite a bit in todays course I took. It is interesting to see how the different generations are learning, what there focus is on and how to maintain their interest. I will certainly try to include some of the new strategies I learned today e.g. dividing the class in small groups and providing them with a topic to research on the internet while using their critical thinking skills.

Did you mean 115 Jesse Campbell?@Street2strip :

I recently took ED 110 which I really enjoyed and learned a lot. It was the best course so far I took with CEE. I also completed ED 115 and while it was very informative, I really would have liked more information including examples for classroom application to this topic (EQ).

The segment about the different student types was quite helpful. How do I handle/ maintain distance to students that show too much closeness? For example, after giving practicals last week, some of the students hugged me, when they heard that they passed.I was happy for them but was caught off guard. Not that I am totally uncomfortable with that, but I don't think it is professional. How can I best prevent that from happening again?
