I learned the difference between norm referenced and criterion referenced tests and questions. I was already familiar with the difference between subjective and objective assessments and the appropriate use of both.

Assessment is a process of using measurable terms to assess knowledge, attitudes, skills, and/or beliefs. Evaluation is grading and product oriented.

Choosing technology assessment tools requires an understanding of the function of the tool before creating an assessment, as stated in previous courses.

Rubrics are helpful for consistency in grading posts and other assignments. Making posts compulsory (ahem) may result in low quality posts.

It is important to recognize generational differences in communication and to adapt your communication techniques to appropriately meet each studentes needs.

I learned that netiquette rules must be communicated to the student and followed by both the instructor and students.

I have learned that it is imperative to obtain feedback from students to assess the technology communication tool in formative and summative formats which will provid the instructor with ongoing feedback throughout the course.

Ongoing assessment and evaluation are critical to success, because all teaching innovations need to be tested in order to validate academic outcomes and benefits.

Communication, fostering a learner-centered environment, structuring problem-based learning, and providing meaningful, informative feedback are all essential tasks for instructors. However, students are responsible for their own learning and providing informative feedback makes instructors a "guide on the side."

I learned that a pattern of teaching basically characterizes how an instructor provides information to students and how their virtual classroom practice becomes obvious as it is repeated consistently.
