Activity

As instructors we know we have so many days and so many hours per day to get across what must be done to complete class/course.We need some kind of time management where we know when to buckle down and when we can let student have a few laughs. We need to know where we are and where we need to be each day. We do not want to waste time eary in course and then try and catch up by moving too fast or worse, leave something out. Time management is one of out best tools to help our classes to… >>>

I think with all physical disability, we have learned how to help student to be successful. In my classes i have students out of high school who can not read or understand what they just read. A physical disablity is something we can see, most of the time we can see a disorder, but the student that cannot read and trys to hide this can cause real problems for both student and Instructor. Sometime, I feel, we, instructor, see this disability as something else.
I feel that in our classes it is most important for that first few mintues to set the tone for the intire course. Our classes are only 15 days long, as an instructor you should be able to tell the students what will be done on each day and what will be expected of them also each day. I feel when you take this aproch it gives the student feeling of a well set up class and instructor.

I liked ED105 as it helped me to understand better what type/types of an instructor I am.

i too felt that Ed105 was one of the best courses i have taken. It has made me feel good about the way i run my classes. I am a big fan of power points. With a power point picture i can add as much information as I want or as little as i want.

I ask questions in class all the time. Sometime I get an answer that opens up discussion. Sometime this will bring in the students that do not like to answer in class. Also I will ask a question on the answer i was just given. This sometimes makes it fun for the students. I will also learn from some of the answers that the students give me.

I am a electrical automotive instructor teaching young people to be able to step out in the working world and repair the electrical issues with the cars/trucks we have today. With all I/we do in classes, with books, power points, hands on the best way for me to know if my students understand is by asking questions. Most times I can take a students answer and turn it into another question and ask another student. I have found that students like this. I will jump around the room so they do not know who I am going to ask next… >>>

In the program i teach we had a large number of students failing the first three weeks of a fifteen week program. We started an orientation day prior to starting the program so students would know what was going to be expected and what it was going to take to be able to complete program. We went from 60% pass rate to 90% pass rate.
