About me

I am currently the Director of Career Services for Miller-Motte College in Greenville, NC to which I was promoted after a successful tenure as the High School Admissions Presenter and Public Relations Coordinator.Through the years I have been a leader in several industries including higher education, in organizations which needed to be pioneered and those which demanded revitalization, in different cultures including internationally, often thriving with meager resources and direction but also developing under strong and stable leadership. I have been described as a dynamic communicator and inspirational leader who exudes credibility and trust. Others consider me a skilled people and project manager and an experienced recruiter and fundraiser.

My recent work experience is in the field of higher education where the skills developed in the other industries have been leveraged to significantly impact the learning and employment outcomes of our students and graduates. While managing a recruiting territory of 15 counties, I developed relationships of trust and credibility with key community contacts while becoming the public face of the college as the Admissions Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator. In my first full year in the Admissions Department, I was recognized as the #1 recruiter within the 40 colleges in the Delta Career Education Corporation, completing that fiscal year at 177% of my potential student inquiry goal.

After a successful year in Admissions, I was promoted to Director of Career Services, where I have had the opportunity to transform a desperately declining department. Inherited was an alienated network of employer relationships, an aimless academic department lacking appropriate student learning outcomes, and a host of deficient students and graduates resulting in a job placement rate of 46%. Having the ability to tap into the heart of all types of people through compelling messaging and winsome charisma, we were able to turn the department around closing the subsequent fiscal year with 72% job placement for our graduates, the most improved placement percentage in the Delta Career Education Corporation system.

That's the most difficult part. Your plan must involve specific people who are responsible for implementing specific tasks in a certain time frame with regular review of the tasks by managers

I chaired a group to help determine if faculty and staff had the needed resources to successfully accomplish their jobs.

One of the questions in the final quiz was related to data gathering and analysis. How wide should I cast the net for data analysis? Should I consider other units or departments in gathering and analyzing data?

This corporate culture is a recipe for burnout. I wonder if you are still working in your role.

My current challenge is a colleague who never accepts responsibility for any mistakes, blames others and takes credit for things others have achieved. Does anyone have help for me here?
