It's important to set meaningful goals because I feel that's what keeps the drive and motivation alive for students. If a student has a goal for their future and works hard for it. After seeing that effort, it make myself as a teacher do everything in my power to help assist and make sure that goal has the best chance of happening.

I want my students to understand that you only get as much as you put in to learning a trade. If you're lazy and sloppy, you're work will come out looking lazy and sloppy. If you're engaged and give 100% effort, You'll most likely gain small tips and tricks along the way and physically working on something may come more natural and easy. I'd want them to know in the real world it's a mindset or amount of effort you put in to your craft and people will notice.

I learned that setting goals early and often can help improve a students drive and learning skill. Which could snowball into them being more engaged more and more as the year progresses.

Use assessment strategies to learn as much as you can about your students. become flexible with what your lesson plan is and adapt to what students may already know. By utilizing pretests and gathering information about pre-existing knowledge that your students may already know, you can adapt and make your lesson plan not as boring and keep students engaged.
