Communication and building seem to be huge things throughout this course, and that means a lot to me, as I am this way as an educator. I need to be to be successful in middle school, but I am starting to feel it is just as important in an online collegiate setting. One must always communicate and build relationships, especially to retain students.

Technology is critical for the success of students and teachers. We currenlty live in a world that is deeply intertwined with technology. As online educators this is vital to our success and that of our students.

Student retention is as much the job of the institution and those that work there as it is the student. This is so important to remember as an adjunct professor and soon to be director of virtual learning.

Engaging and retaining online learners, like many instances in education requires building meaningful professional relationships. This is something I live by! Learning ways to engage with students online is supper important to what I do.

Motivational engagement is vital for student success. One can create this through building relationships, engaging in exciting structures and activities, and having a student-centered focus. I love that this further deepened my resolve to always teach as a facilitator. One can always do more to engage students in person and virtually, and I am here to continue learning how to do so.

It is so important to make a connection to the students personality traits. They need to feel like valued members of the learning community.

It is incredibly interesting to think about the different characteristics we have of each of the different colors. I also like to delve deeper and think about how this relates to my teaching style and communication with students. As an adjunct professor and peer collaborative middle school teacher, I feel like I am always thinking about building relationships, but this is an interesting new context or lens.

It is interesting to asses which personality traits I possess as well as those of my students and how we will interact in the most effective manner to take full advantage of our virtual setting.

It was interesting to consider the different personalities encountered in a learning environment. This is something that actively effects my everyday in person instruction and my online instruction as well.

I have always been a firm believer in backwards design, authentic assessments, and more feedback than instruction. I will remember to alwasy assess in an authentic manner.
