Activity

Each member at ECPI has a duty to engage ind "Student Retention" it starts with us and being actively engaged in the lives of the students. Providing each student with the tools they need to be successful and making learning fun and being engaged with the each student and their academic needs.

When working with the next generation it is significant to meet each student where they are and take time to get to know them on a personal level. You never know what a student is dealing with outside of school that can impact their academic learning style.

Teach your students that they are valuable and they are worth your time. Be available to your students and know resources on how to point your students in the right direct. Be an encourager and a good listener, for you never know what your student is going through if you do not take the time to listen.

As the instructor, it is my responsibility to know my students and know how to help the work through the stress of which academics can put on the student. By doing this, is teaching them time management and stress releaving techniques. If we do not prepare and know our students, how will we know how to help them when chaos occurs.

If the student does not feel they are capable of passing, a suggestion from the instructor would be to drop the course and pick it back up next term Keeping students informed of their grades and meeting each student right where they are helps in retaining the students and helps you continue to be engaged with the students. It is significant to know the needs of your students so you can help them be successful in their academic career and prepare them for success.
