Case studies are not new and are used in aviation maintenance colleges to analyze real-world scenarios and promote hands-on, outcome-based learning, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application in a manner that aligns with industry standards. They highlight critical skills like troubleshooting, safety procedures, and the human factors involved in maintenance, preparing students for the complexities of the profession by exposing them to various technical and experiential domains.
Benefits of Case Study Learning:

  • Hands-on Experience
  • Real-World Relevance
  • Skill Development
  • Promotes Safety and Responsibility
  • Supports Specialized Training

Sharing relevant experience at the start of an aircraft maintenance class is very important because it builds credibility and trust with students, making the instructor's technical knowledge more meaningful. For students entering a high-stakes, hands-on field, hearing about a seasoned mechanic's real-world examples and challenges makes the theoretical information more concrete and memorable.

  • Boosts credibility: In a highly technical and safety-conscious environment, in this case, aviation, students need to believe their instructor is competent and knowledgeable. Sharing a background that includes practical, hands-on field experience and relevant certifications (in this case, an FAA Airframe and Powerplant or A&P license)… >>>

What is a benefit of developing your own resource packets for your course?

You are able to put current material in the resource packets each time you teach the course, so the material is always relevant.

Developing your own resource packets offers numerous benefits for both the teacher and the students. This process leads to more intentional teaching and allows for greater adaptability than using Prepact, “One – Size – Fits-all” materials.

Benefits for students:
Customized learning: a teacher can tailor content to meet students' unique interests, abilities, and needs The material can also be adjusted to align with current… >>>
