Safety, safety, safety! There is nothing more important than keeping everybody safe. Safety sign-offs and procedure check lists are important. Never leave kids unsupervised! Set boundaries and expectations!

I learned that 1) not all kids are the same and 2) teaching should not be a one size fits all model. I need to be flexible but lay solid ground rules and expectations. Be clear and consistent.

I need a mentor! Somebody to help with the struggles but also celebrate the triumphs!! I should not try to do this along! Seek help, ask questions and that will help me learn and grow and also help my student be a success!

The more I really learn about what i means to be a CTE teacher, the  more I know I am in the right profession. Being prepared and professional while also being compassionate and  understanding are vital. Setting boundaries and leading by example will give students the best foundation. This lesson gave me one more reason why deleting FB would be a good idea! LOL!

I have learned that I really need to incorporate steps for advancement. I can start these steps as early as my middle school kids and advance each year so the kids are ready for post-secondary education. I need to develop a good evaluation tool to make sure I am being effective and the kids are getting all they need to follow a POS.
