About me

I am a fairly new BSN instructor, needless to say, a little, okay let's be real, a LOT nervous about teaching nursing students.  I feel their career is in my hands, yet I know that I will able to have successful students leave my classes.  I have taught Allied Health for many years, but nursing is so different.  What types of activities may I steal, from any of you, to help make my classes interesting, fun and challenging?

Interests

traveling, pristine essential oils, learning, making quilt tops, needle and yarn work, and so much more

Skills

i am a great teacher! making people laugh

Activity

One can never be too careful when working with a diverse group of people.  All must be treated equally with respect and dignity.  Forgiveness can go a long way to help mend a rift between two people when ones feelings are hurt.

Did not realized the components fo emotional intelligence.

Did not realize how much more effective people skills are compared to technical skills.

Whether teaching online on f2f, education must be engaging to the point of making learning fun.  When education is fun, it is easier for the student to remember what was taught.  When they retain the information, they are more likely to teach it to someone else.

I plan on having my Pharmacology students divide into groups, put a brochure together about a drug class, and share that information with the other groups.

I would like to use role play in my classes.  Another thought, divide the class into teams and race to write on the board things/concepts they learned from the last classtime.  This will engage the student and they will be able to critically think about the concepts taught.
