About me

Dedicated Instructor with over 10 years of Dealership Experience working on all makes and models.  Ford Senior Master, Certified Power and Performance Tuner and proud owner and operator of A & J Automotive Repair and Fleet Services.

After attending UTI and graduating from the Automotive, Diesel and HVAC programs in 1999.  I immediately became employed and worked with multiple dealerships during my Automotive Technician Career.  Dealerships included: Lexus Of Sacramento, Future Ford Fleet Center, Elk Grove Ford, Motorsports Dynamics, Apex Motorsports and Mel Rapton Honda.

In 2006 I decided that spreading my knowledge in the automotive industry was what I wanted to do and became an Instructor at the Sacramento Campus of UTI.  My career here lasted from 2006 to 2009.  I instructed Service Writing, Brakes, Electrical and became one of Sacramento's First Ford FACT Instructors.  It was in 2009 that I decided to open my own Automotive Repair Business called A & J Automotive Repair and Fleet Services located in Sacramento as well.

As the proud owner and operator of A & J Automotive we have been open since 2009 and still continue to operate as an Automotive Repair and Fleet Maintenance company in Rancho Cordova.  I can proudly say that we have been open for approx. 15 years and have never fell under a 5 Star review status on Google, Yelp, Groupon, Facebook and more.  We strive on Customer service and performing repairs the right way the first time.

Although I love my business... I also missed spreading knowledge about Automotive Technology to upcoming and rising stars.  Our future in this industry is important to me and I definitely want to help our growing art strive.  This is why I have decided to step away from my business as an Owner/Operator and assume only a Management roll in my business to allow myself time to teach.  I am glad to be back at UTI and look forward to the future to come.

Activity

Marketing and budgeting is crucial to any business.  As a business owner myself I use the 1/3 rule.  I've learned that the sweet spots in business working in this way for me but may differ for education institutions.  For my businesses I dedicate fund in this manner.  1/3 of profit goes to Income.  1/3 goes into business operations.  1/3 goes to business capital account/savings.

I thing student services planning is great.  I has the student's past, present, and future in consideration when making any future changes and when developing plans to help students become successful at the start, during, and after any program.

I am from the Sacramento UTI Campus.  Is anyone using a 5 year plan on our campus?  If So, I would like to become more involved in this type of Opportunities to help our school grow and strive.
