Being honest, accurate and transparent is the key to avoiding misrepresentations.  Stay away from comments like, we have the best industry professionals on our education team; our equipment is "state-of-the art".  Superlatives should be avoided...they are subjective, hard to measure and difficult to verify as fact.

Discussion Comment

As Admissions Reps, when stating disclosures like completion rates, etc., we should always state the facts exactly as they appear on the presentation slides.   We should not embellish.

This course reminds us that the little things we say and do, can have big consequences to ourselves and our schools as a whole.

We want students to feel comfortable throughout the entire enrollment process.  As our presentation suggest, "Financial Aid Partnering" is important, as we hand off the "trust" in them knowing there are experts in Fin. Aid to assist with their concerns.

We should always strive for excellence...but never at the cost of jeoparding your/our integrity.  For example, a student brings in an "unsealed" transcript.  It looks like an official transcript, but you are aware that it was opened.  Do the right thing and explain that you cannot accept it.  Your student will appreciate your honesty and you will gain their trust in knowing that you/we do not bend the rules.

I agree, materials such as our student catalog is the best form of disclosing information.  In reality, however, if students have a lot of questions, it may seem like we're "avoiding" their questions if we continuously refer them to the catalog for answers.  So, best bet, I think, is to know your stuff...read and know the catalog...even "memorize" certain verbiage if necessary.  That way you can deliver your responses with confidence, thus building credibility with your prospective student.  Also, if you are uncertain, by knowing the catalog, you'll know exactly where to find the information you need at a moment's… >>>

Compliance is an on-going, everyday itinerary.  "Doing the Right Thing should always be the focus.  This is what drives my activities and contributes in a meanful way to helping our students.
