About me

Dr. Jim Falvo holds an Ed.D. in Administration, Curriculum, and Instruction with an emphasis in Instructional Media from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Dr. Falvo earned his M.A. degree in Communication at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and his B.S.degree in Public Address at Towson State University in Baltimore, Maryland. 

Teaching in both traditional and distance-learning classrooms, Dr. Falvo has been a full-time faculty member for eight years, an adjunct for over 20 years, and has taught high school for four years.  His teaching areas include courses that focus on improving human and mediated communication.  His passion is to promote the teaching-learning process using effective instructional design principles. Dr. Falvo is particularly interested in communication apprehension, learning styles, and other elements that impinge upon the instructional process.  He is also certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association as a tennis instructor. Dr. Falvo has been teaching tennis nearly as long as his 40 years of playing experience (minus a few years of resting from injuries!). He also worked for the Baltimore Orioles while in college.

In previous positions outside academe, Dr. Falvo has extensive experience as a Television/Video Producer/Director in Corporate, Biomedical and Broadcast settings.  He has also been a Broadcast Journalist in both commercial radio and television. Serving four years in the Air Force from 1970-1974, "Sgt. Falvo" was a member of the American Forces Radio and Television Service.

I very much enjoyed the insights gained when viewing the videos from the Harvard School of Business. These professors showcased what it means to deliver dynamic lectures!
