About me

I am a fashion design instructor and enjoy teaching students how the fashion industry works.

Activity

I have heard many students explain that it is very difficult to take an online course due to lack of self-motivation.  The students have a hard time pacing themselves through the course without the accountability of attending a class.  The information in EL 102 is helpful to structure a course, but there may be a little more that we need to explore to making a student successful in the course.

Lesson planning is very important so we have a guide as to what we are teaching our students.

This is a great website for creating style sets for fashion students.

I agree with you Zenaida.  With all the preparation, it is important to make it creative and interesting.  It is not a good feeling to know that all the work you put into the lecture is not useful if the students do not respond positively in learning.

I belive the children's fashion industry is taking a turn for the better.  More parents and grandparents are wanting their child to be the cutest and most successful.  Therefore, they are more willing to spend more money on the child's wardrobe to enhance their success.

This pattern card is helpful in my pattern classes to show the students how to label their patterns.

It is a good reminder to break things down into a format that the students can absorb the content and it is not too overwhelming.

A lot of times students come into the classroom expecting a skill to be more difficult to learn.  Once they see it is something they can achieve, they move past their assumptions and are able to work more confidently.

Discussion Comment
It is always helpful to have the lesson plans to help guide your class, but sometimes you do move too quickly through a subject you expected to take the whole class. Most of the time the students do not know the basics, so it always good to review basics and terminology if you have extra time.

I believe the tutorials are helpful in helping us create better lesson plans and keep better organized classrooms.
