Some times as an educator we get in the groove of doing the same things over and over. Just like our students we need an alternative means of stimulating our brain a recharge if you will. Often times doing the same classes over and over we become set in our ways and resist the urge to think out of the box.

I believe both these subjects are related, as a student trying to learn a subject for the first time, or being bored sitting in class waiting for others to catch up. Also from an instructors point of view, the stress of getting everyone up to speed along with going in depth enough to not to lose those who don't know, and keeping those who do interested. All of which adds stress to instructors and students. It is a fine line we walk everyday to keep retention, positive outlook, and consistant, nurturing, exciting learning environment intact. BRAVO!!! to all who tries… >>>

I give them a relatively simple problem to solve,but I ask them to find all possibilities to the problem.By using group discussions and problem solving. I find that even the shy student will contribute.And it gives me a chance to praise their efforts...

Sometimes you encounter a student that has a very bad back ground. They feel the whole worlds against them. How can you get that student to let their guard down enough to realize thats not the case in the short time we spend with them.

In every class you have the superstars very out going.But what about the shy stunt?What is a proper way to get the student to participate,and boost their confidence level?
Being a 30ish year old teacher I see a different view of both. My question is,is it possible to be to old to learn or to young and stuborn to listen to experienced people? What about combo's of both?
I tend to find that certain personalities thrive in this area or shut down. I'm looking for personel experiences and overcoming the butterflies so to speak.
