Kenny, Many folks, including me, find the Internet to be a distraction at work. I have found that taking a surfing break, (simultaneous with my coffee break, a couple of times a day gives me my "surfing fix." Other than that, I try to keep my web browser closed.
Thanks, Cristina. Teamwork is vital in the success of a career college. Too often, factions develop so that the focus is only on one department's goals. You folks are on the right track.
Cheryl, You are on point here. It is easy for the constant contact to seem like nagging if we do not make it very clear that we are calling to support students. One way to reduce the number of times this "conflict" might occur is to teach students to contact us if they know they will be out of pocket for at least four days. It works for us.
Marliyn, How do you develop these HABE's in the students that do not naturally pocess them?
Thanks, Marilyn! What happens if issues are identified through the observations or questionaires?
Thanks, Earl. Calling students who miss class is a staple for most career colleges. The trick is to make sure the call focuses on encouraging the students and focusing on how we can help that student stay caught up with the coursework and get back to school.
This sounds like a great class. Thanks!
Thank you, Sara. It sounds like developing EQ is a priority at your campus. Are there any topics that come up in your Diversity course that are especially difficult to address?
Thanks, Earl. It sounds like your campus is a compelling place to go to school.

Thanks, Darryl. it is sometimes difficult to predict when a rash of student issues will pop up. It may be helpdul for you to involve others if there are other folks to whom you can effectively delgate some of the student service activities.
