Activity

Kudos to you Lauren for recognizing the importance of responding to and working with the prospective student using the method that's best for them. We need to have the tools and the skills to be able to work with our students using different modes of communication. Thank you for your post! Dr. Jean Norris
Great observation David! Let us know how this new awareness helps you in future conversations. Dr. Jean Norris
Great job using questions to look at both their current situation as well as their goals. Knowing the answers to these questions are helpful in our role, but how do you think asking these types of questions help your students? Dr. Jean Norris
It looks like you're using a good mix of open-ended and confirmation type questions. How do you feel these questions are working for you? Dr. Jean Norris
Product Knowledge is very important because as you noted, we want to provide accurate information; however the other elements help to make up the well-rounded professional. If you had to choose one that you think you may need to work on improving, which would that be for you David? Dr. Jean Norris
How interesting David! Yes, it sounds like your experience my be unique but may still provide great opportunities for you to connect that experience with your college. Every prospective student comes from their own situation and so the expertise will likely be different with each student. How lucky for your students that you have such a rich background to share with them. Thank you for your post! Dr. Jean Norris
You're right, different generations do like their information in different ways. Great observation! Thanks for the follow up Connie.
Good point! What can you specifically discuss during your message that might encourage the student to call you back? Dr. Jean Norris
This is a common obstacle Breanna. What we have seen in recent years is that today's students are quite busy and may actually prefer to learn about your school in a different way, meaning maybe not coming to the campus right away. For those students that can't make it to campus, what could you do differently to provide that student with information to continue the process? Dr. Jean Norris
Thanks for sharing what is done at your campus Connie. I'm curious, how effective is the online catalog with password for getting in contact with prospective students? I'm also glad that you were able to pick up some new ideas from the forum. :) Dr. Jean Norris
