Juan, Very well said! We couldn't agree more. Older models worked well in the past, but so many things have changed. For one, students can get most of the information about your institution on the internet. So telling them they must come in may not work for them. Asking great questions to find out where they are in their college search, and how best you can help them, will go a long way further. Dr. Jean Norris
Gina, Great idea! Keep up the great self-awareness training! Dr. Jean Norris
Gina, Excellent! Then we have achieved our goal! Keep up with the learning and see how else you can become self-aware. Dr. Jean Norris
Hello, Juan! Thank you for posting. You are correct that the relationship starts on the phone, and helps to guide the face-to-face interaction. Dr. Jean Norris
Gina, Thank you for posting. Will you clarify what you mean by consistency? How will you improve it? Dr. Jean Norris
Mirenia, Interesting! Keep in mind, the communication hierarchy comes from the world of marriage counseling and is not designed for you to reach the bond level with your students (That is the deepest level of rapport). This means you really are not fully bonding with them in the way it is meant for the hierarchy. Knowing that, what do you think is your biggest challenge with the hierarchy? Dr. Jean Norris
Sadie, This is a great insight. What do you think is the important of getting to know someone/learn more about them before you start sharing your opinion on what program you think is best for them? Dr. Jean Norris
Sylvia, Excellent! Keep up the good work. Do you find that your students, and those with them, have better rapport with you? Dr. Jean Norris
