Being prepared is important. Allow some connection with students by letting them know a little about you professionally and personally. Allow students to share things about them, such as the reason they are in the class.
Being early and prepared is important to having a great learning day. Also having a detailed syllabus is useful for students to be aware of class expectations.
It is important that we as instructor are models, managers and motivators. What we do, say, and act has a lasting impression good or bad on learning. We have to practice what we preach .

Career Ed Lounge is embedded in over eighty professional development portals serving the career and technical education community. Performance Groups in the Lounge are integrated with related learning opportunities offered on these portals. With a few exceptions, Performance Groups are also publicly available to any member of the Lounge to maximize peer-to-peer learning and performance outcomes.
