Work
Currently I work remotely. Working on a project basis for a local company..I do such things as creation of local and nationwide marketing campaigns, designing advertising materials, websites creation and explore new business and marketing plans. Previously for the same firm…Managed 40+ sales representatives, negotiated client contracts, created manuals for the technical side of sales processing, developed IT guidelines for new clients; identification of new marketing channels.

From a work pov, I got here in a rather circular route from education to business and back to education. After getting my undergraduate degree I headed to Japan to teach. While there I also got involved with a publishing business, which started me with a hands on introduction to marketing. From there I went to Turkish Cyprus where I was hired to do international marketing for a university. The opportunity came up for me to develop a secondary school while I was there, which I took full advantage of. (Also got the MBA.) That then led me to the company I do projects for currently. After 3 years with them I started to work remotely due to the birth of my son. I wanted to get back into education and had the opportunity to get involved with online education. I now love the process of being an online instructor!!

Life, Fun and Such…
Travel was a real focus of mine until recently. Opportunities to travel to Asia while in Japan for 2 years were splendid. Being able to travel to the UAE, Lebanon, and Pakistan for the university in Turkish Cyprus was awesome. Previously living in Denmark and a lot of small trips has been a big part of who I am. A sampling of what I love to do: read, kayak, hike, anything that is related to science fiction, the arts, politics.

Activity

Hi-

I think that online education will continue to grow and provide new tools to enhance the educational experience. That said, I believe that a segment of learners will still need/desire the in-person/traditional learning experience.

Online education has already entered the mainstream high school education system and will only grow in the foreseeable future.

Hi- I think that the instructor should make a concerted effort to reach out to the student. This would be via email and phone typically. If these are not receiving a response than involving the school advisor assigned to the student would be cced or directly contacted to ensure that the university is aware that the student is not attending.

I am very sympathetic to the challenges of the adult learner who is working full time with a "life". It is important to remember the challenges are unique and new for this student and not to carry over previous disappointment… >>>
