I believe that even if you identify as one more than the other, both are necessary to be successful when you are in charge of a group of people.

Empathic listening opens up true communication and leaves less room for error when practiced. Being aware of learning styles is important so that imformation can be given in an apporpriate way and removes road blocks of misunderstandings. These are tools that we even need to be conscious of in our everyday relationships and conversations.

I didn't realize that there were so many styles but I am glad to seee me in more than a few styles. I see the benefit of each as well as the downfalls and I think that is where personal values shine through. People are fluid and ever changing and basic principals should alwys lead decisions, however, adaptablity to changing situations is also a sign of a good leader.

I am a new director over an exisiting team and this lesson was very helpful in identifying ways to build trust within me and to rebuild trusut within themelves. I am trying to learn who each of them are as individuals and as well as observe how they interact as a team. I have already seen very mixed messages from what they display to each other and what they say to me behind closed doors. I think there is still a lot of good to salvage and the potential for this team to be more than they have become is… >>>

IT is important to gather all facts before making any type of judgement call. As a teacher, it is our responsibility to be familiar with the rules and regualtions of all governing bodies to make informed, wel thought and compliant decision for the student's academic progress and possible future life decisions. It is important be to be transparent and give informaiton that is factual and can be proven.

Adapting to a new mode of learning is what we must relate to now. However, even in the new online environment of learning, we must still be transparent with our students on the mission, expectations and requirements for graduation so they cand make an informed decision about their accademic future and career choices. We must inform them of the benefits and risks of their chioces and help guide them to make that informed decision.

Alot of attention to detail must happen to become accreited. This is not a topic that I am well versed on but now that I work with a career college, I want to help maintain the standards of the school so I feel that I should become more educated in this topic. I want to make sure that I help keep the schools accredidation positive and active so I need to make sure that I provide the best education to students that I can so that they and the school both have positive outcomes in their measurements of success.

I like discussions about complliance because people need to know why they are investing their time and money into a particular organization. Complaince builds trust and actions speak louder than words. I feel that my actions will show that I understand and trust in the college's values and mission(s) and therefore the students can learn to trust not just myself, but collegues and the institution itself for their futures. I am glad that I can be a part of this culture of trust.

I think this reminds us that with all the knowledge in the world, everyone intakes it and delivers it differently. Everything starts with a game plan that has to be flexible to accomodate our students learning styles. We as teachers have to figure out how to delilver the information in the best possible way. Delivery is key. If the information cannot be delivered so the student can undersand, then we have not succeeeded in teaching that student.

It is important to relate with your students, while still establishing boundries. An important topic was be detailed on your first day of class, but not to to the point  of limiting flexibility. . I also liked how it was mentioned to define your expectations on the the syllabus as well as on the first day of class. Setting these expectations early, gives more time for learning and teaching. Learning student names early on, shows commitment and character and helps to build trust between the instructor and students. Letting your students learn a little about yourself, gives them the confidence… >>>
