Just as with a F2F course the onlne course can be dynamic.  This quality ehances learnng and student engagement.

Rubrics cannot only be utilized as an assessment tool, but they will also assist students. Rubrics help students understand what exactly are the expectations of a specific project and may help them organize their work accordingly.

The ttraining reinforces thet Instructors should make no assumptions as to students may know in tregards to communication;therefore, it is essential to make all possible communication modes,  between teacher and students and students and students and teacher and student, clearly explained.  We all come from different environments and some students will not know how to respond properly unless it is clearly explained by the instructor.

I realized that there are so many technology tools I need to review and know how to use effectively. In choosing what technologies to implement and for what purposes the instructor can make or break a course. Planning is essential for effective communication to happen.

I would agree with others that asyncchronous teaching offers great flexibility for the students and demands effective communication from the instructor and the teachers.  Synchronous instruction may alleviate a sense of alienation for some students.  Furthermore an instructor may choose to do both within the same course. Whatever is decided it is MOST important for the the instructor th amintain consistency in his/her approach to maximize effectice learning.

Just as with "In Class" teaching teachers in anonline course need to carefully select which tools will be most effective and engaging for the students. Technology offers a plethora of tools. A course may not be face to face, however there are tools both teacher and students need to learn to manipulate effectively so learning may proceed in an effective manner.

Diversify EVERYTHING. Each of us are different and therefore assessing and evaluating must recognize these differences. Alternative materials summative and formative asseessments need to be applied so all students can be reached.

A clear concise rubric will assisst students in participating in both peer and self - assessments. These assessments are to help students know where their weaknesses and to assisst the instructor where s/he may have fallen short in providing the content.

It is important for students to establish themselves as part of a larger community; this will give them a greater sense of identity with their fellow classmates. Secondly,  the teacher needs to orchestrate for each students in the learning process. Following the eight steps of scaffolding will ensure that students are kept focused and on track with their learning procees.

The complexity and interconnectivity of the many facdts of an online course demand an instructor who has all components under control and is a master leader!
