I learned that many professors have worked in the field in which they're teaching, and can effectively integrate career opportunities in their curriculum by disucssing those possibilities. I will apply what I learned by continuing to volunteer at my campus' graduation as a way to encourage the students to seek employment in their field.

I learned that social support is just as important and successcul academic prerformance in maintaining retention. I will apply what I have learned by continuing to provide academic support for the benfit of my students' success.

I learned how opportunistic orientations are for providing new students the realities of school they may not have considered before. Orientations also provide students information they need to expect when transitioning into the role of a student. I have been assigned the task of conducting an orientation just for my conditional student caseload, and I plan to utilize these tools to thoroughly explain the exoectations of tasks they must complete while they are on my caseload so that they can become non-conditional.

I have learned that retenition is initiated during the start of the admissions process. The number of visits the prospective student makes to the campus, their plan on being in school while balancing other responsibilities, and other factors all contrubute to their potential success in the program. While I do not work in my campus' admissions department, I will welcome meeting prospective students when I get the opportunity when they tour our campus as a positive aspect of their admissions experience.
