About me

I am a Director of Career Services in Waco, Texas. I recently retired from the U.S. Army as a Career Counselor. I have worked as a Law Enforcement Officer, Drug Suppression Investigator, Suicide Prevention and Intervention Leader, Digital Training Management System Manager, Schools Manager, and a Career Counselor who mentored many soldiers throughout their careers. As the Director of Career Services, I assist in securing permanent placements for high-quality students, managing their talents properly, and meeting the needs of local Businesses. I have created and reinvented systems in all aspects of my career to improve our training and tracking systems. I graduated from the University of Phoenix July of 2016 with an Associate of Art in Communication and again November of 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication, I then went on to graduate from Southern New Hampshire University earning a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership in August of 2020. I have a great interest in self-improvement and mentoring/coaching others while acting as a culture advocate and enhancing diversity and inclusion within an organization.

This section really drives home the fact that none of our departments can be successful without the others. We really need to continually push for cross-functional partnering between departments throughout each Campus. I cannot create, manage, or have a successful Career Services Department without the buy-in and support of Admissions, Education, and Financial Aid. On the contrary, they also cannot be as successful with out my buy-in or support.

In every organization I have worked for, there is a clear divide between departments. What I have seen is one department stating they are working the hardest while everyone else gets… >>>

What I enjoyed learning most in this section, was that it mentioned self-awareness and being nonjudgemental. It will always be a tad challenging to block all judgements. I typically refer to this as unconscious bias meaning I am unconsciously forming a bias judgement or thought and once I realize or am aware it is happening, I can correct it!
