Activity

Craig, very well stated. Just like an actor in a play, while on stage your always remain in character and play your role. Leave the real-world outside of your classroom and outside of the institution. While in the presence of students, be positive, be scholarly, be professional. James Jackson
Todd, can you share any of your techniques used in your classroom with respect to the use of assessments and how they are used to enhance the learning process? Thanks for anything you can share. James Jackson
Harold, very well dome and such dedication moves you into the category of great versus just good. There are many good instructors but we need more GREAT instructors such as yourself. James Jackson
Sean, great to hear you focus on the TEAM. All too often I see instructors refer to their situations as individuals. So much more can be accomplished with the student body when the faculty work together versus individually. Thanks for sharing. James Jackson
Linda, I agree 100%. Testing in an academic setting is still a learning experience and if the students cannot learn anything from the testing process then there is something very wrong with the testing process at any institution. There is always room for that one critical testing experience where the instructor may want to simulate exact conditions of a certification exam so no help would be available but such extreme testing should be limited and not represent the majority of assessments in any academic setting. Nancy, what are some take-a ways you will utilize within your own classroom? James Jackson
Nancy, what are some of the ways you define professionalism? How do you personally go about presenting your self to your students? James Jackson

One size does NOT fit all and we as instructors must take the time to learn about our students and how best to achieve our academic goals for the classroom and for our students. James Jackson

Elizabeth, treating all students equally is a very important factor. Each instructor however will enforce the rules a bit differently. The more the faculty communicate as a team the more consistency that can be applied to all classrooms and all students. If each member of the faculty operate as an independent unit then consistency will be difficult to achieve. James Jackson

Doris, managing a classroom of 2 can be difficult in that there are not really enough students to engage in deep discussions. Of course the students may benefit as they get much more of your direct attention. I prefer a classroom with a minimum of 8 students. This size tends to allow for good discussions and allows me time to get around to each student and provide them with very personalized attention. This is not to say a classroom of 15 to 20 is not manageable but the larger size does require some different techniques and less time that can… >>>
