About me

I am a novice Nurse Educator at Arizona College of Nursing, specializing in OB and maternal child. I have been an RN for 20-years, in postpartum and newborn nursery.

Activity

I think the different learning styles allows the educator to become creative; it is an opportunity to utilize different methods to assist students with their learning needs and retainment. To do so, the educator must be familiar and comfortable with the content and lesson plans.

It is important to establish a good rapport with the students. By learning names and a little about them helps breaks the ice and can create a respectable relationship with reciprocity.

I believe the syllabus will assist the students, and as Shelby stated, it provides a GPS. As a novice educator, it will assist me as well. I will implement a daily checklist for myself and have a dated note pad as a reminder (student needs or questions; content). I think that will be valuable.

I believe that the role model and professional standpoint is a first impression on the students and initiate the flow of the class. By being aware and implement the 3 different roles can demonstrate a productive learning environment and professional development on the student's side.

I like problem-based learning because it promotes critical thinking and problem solving, it is challenging, and it promotes teamwork or collaboration like what you'd see in a real-life scenario.

I've learned that we live in a digital age and have to accommodate learners. By doing active learning, like flipped class, would encourage students to be more critical thinkers and also encourage them to find a creative side.

I think being aware of technical support and ensuring the students know how to navigate that avenue need be. I like the chunking of lecture to make it more engaging and retainable.

Active learning approach encourages student engagement and critical thinking skills. I intend to apply active learning by Think-pair-share and simulation.
