In a keynote address given by Neil Gaiman he shared many great piece of advice. One in particular I found to be not only a true and interesting way of looking at employement but also quite funny. Below is an excerpt form his speech:

People keep working, in a freelance world, and more and more of today's world is freelance, because their work is good, and because they are easy to get along with, and because they deliver the work on time. And you don't even need all three. Two out of three is fine. People will tolerate how unpleasant you are… >>>

Place to hangout

Whatever the current focus on education is it does not seem to be working. For one, participating in organized institutions of education should not feel like something you have to do in order to be sucessful but unfortunatly this seems to be the case. There are still countries in this world where being able to get an academic education, let alone particpate in higher ed is a rare and special gift ( something appreciated as an oppertunitiy to grow and better ones undertanding of the world and hopeful at the end be able to produce a life that better that life… >>>

Not everyone is going to get along great or even work well together; however, sometimes having an extremely bad boss can make your professional life something that is unhealthy for you personally and/or for your carrer. This section gave me many great tips and ideas about work realtionships and how to keep them productive however; I would also add that with a bad boss your personal happiness/carrer goals might not matter to him/her at all. So, take resposiblity for those yourself. Keep an updated resume, keep up with job postings and know that if you are staying in the job… >>>

It is very important to know and grow your personal value. Taking ownership of the manner in which you conduct yourself will help your leadership/management style be genuine, reliable and productive.
