Activity

I have found that  if I see a student has poor attendance this in itself will lead to failure. I try  to e-mail, and/or call the student . This personal  touch has prevented a possible drop-out from happening.

In a class of 40 students I find it difficult to accommodate all students and their learning styles. If anyone has this challenge please let me know what you have done.

I have been writting my own exams, rather than using textbook standard testing. I find by doing this it gives me a better understanding of how the students are using the information given during lecture.

Using humor can be effective in the classroom to help students relax. Be careful not to let it get out of hand where you lose control over the classroom:

Discussion Comment

@LeeAnn : Sometimes  it  is  difficult to keep students  motivated , especially  when the course is gen.ed. and  the instructor has to find a way to make the course exciting and meaningful.

Engaging students is at times very difficult. Especially when the  informations  given is more memorization than not. Using theABC go fish  activity will be of great hel[p to make things more interesting.:
